Madras Mixture | South Indian Mixture

Hi Supermoms,

For many of us, Diwali means lots of sweets and snacks. We are given a large ball( urundai) of 'Deepavali legyam' - a medicinal preparation that aids digestion on the early hours of the festival day. Oil bath , new clothes and bursting of crackers followed by eating the sweets and savoury are all part of my childhood memories.

Though we do not burst crackers now, the food tradition has not changed one bit. " Sweet, Karam, Coffee' - yes, that's the way we call this platter in Tamilnadu, as it has the sweet, spicy flavours and coffee ( our most favourite drink). Greeting friends, relatives  on the day of Diwali with this platter completes the celebration.

Madras Mixture or the South Indian Mixture is popular through out the world. It is a mix of various savoury preparation and is a great snack too. Try it this Diwali and spread the joy by sharing homemade snacks and sweets with friends .
